A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO LEADING PEOPLE, ORGANIZING WORK, AND NAVIGATING UNIVERSITY SYSTEMS

What's the difference between Management and Leadership?

Management is the process of ensuring a team works effectively toward shared goals by supervising people, communicating clearly, organizing work, and following university procedures. It focuses on coordinating tasks, supporting daily operations, and making decisions that help the group function smoothly and meet expectations.

This differs from leadership, which is the ability to guide, influence, and inspire self and others to achieve a common goal. Leadership emphasizes motivation, vision, and personal influence, while management emphasizes structure, consistency, and operational support.

Whether you're a new manager, or looking to refine your approach, Managers' Compass offers a clear path to becoming a more effective, organized, and collaborative leader.
