CliftonStrengths Consultants

Strengths consultants are Virginia Tech faculty and staff who have committed to learning about Gallup CliftonStrengths to help others understand the power of their own Top 5 Strengths for individual and collective fulfillment and success.

Strength consultants facilitate more than 50 workshops on CliftonStrengths topics with faculty and staff each year.

Lindsay Barron is the graduate student services coordinator at Virginia Tech. She holds a bachelor’s degree in human development from Virginia Tech and spent many years as an entrepreneur, building and running a K-8 STEM education franchise. 

CliftonStrengths Top 5: Input – Communication – Ideation – Adaptability - Woo

Jessica Black is the director of student success at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. She has been a Strengths consultant since 2023 and has facilitated many workshops with students, faculty, and staff. 

CliftonStrengths Top 5: Connectedness – Learner – Input - Relator - Individualization

Julie Burger is an undergraduate academic advisor in the College of Natural Resources and Environment Advising and Career Center. She holds a BS from Virginia Tech and a Masters Degree from NC State.

CliftonStrengths Top 5: Consistency – Relator – Developer – Harmony - Input

Leigh Ann Byrd is the assistant director for Career Development and College Relations. She is the lead for students interested in career pathways in arts, design, communication,  advertising, and marketing.  

CliftonStrengths Top 5: Woo – Empathy – Developer – Positivity - Communication

Caitlin Cook is the academic advisor in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures. She holds a bachelor's degrees in english and international studies from North Carolina State University and a master's degree in international education management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies.

Rebekah DeToma is an undergraduate academic advisor for the Department of Biological Sciences. She has a bachelor’s in genetics from Clemson University and a master’s in student affairs from the University of Memphis.

India Eanes is a human resources generalist within the Division of Information Technology and was a member of the 2025 Strengths Consultant cohort. 

CliftonStrengths Top 5: Developer – Empathy – Discipline – Relator - Consistency

Krystal Johnson joined the Career Exploration and Access of Career and Professional Development (CPD) at Virginia Tech as assistant director in the summer of 2024. Previously, she held various counseling, career advising, and academic advising roles in Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina.

Heather Hollandsworth serves as a Virginia Tech Strengths consultant and academic advisor in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. 

CliftonStrengths Top 5: Developer – Empathy – Belief – Consistency - Relator

Carrie Hopkins is a certified Virginia Tech Strengths consultant with a master’s in business administration and bachelor’s in psychology and special education from Liberty University.

CliftonStrengths Top 5: Input – Connectedness – Learner – Ideation - Strategic

Dana McGuire serves as the assistant director of Academic Advising in the College of Natural Resources and Environment (CNRE). She holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Penn State and a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs from Virginia Tech. She has extensive experience in higher education, with a strong background in academic support and advising.

Tony Trimpe is the assistant director for Civic Leadership in the Division of Student Affairs. Tony's professional experience spans across a multitude of areas within Student Affairs, like Orientation & Transition, Student Activities, Student Organizations, and Community Engagement.
